Each Summer we always make our way to a favorite and a classic – The Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI. Smack on the water in a century-old fort, it’s an intimate one. And it’s not the folk festival of old… On the same ground where Johnny Cash introduced a little known Kris Kristofferson and Bob Dylan shocked with an electric set, you might now see the likes of Mumford & Sons, Margo Price, St. Vincent, Phosphorescent, Tank & The Bangas, Lukas Nelson, Lucius or Hozier.
This year the line-up at the folk-fest didn’t disappoint, with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Jeff Tweedy, Preservation Hall Jazz band, Warren Haynes, Maggie Rogers, Brandi Carlile who lead an all-female set that ended with the awesome Ms. Dolly Parton who brought the house down! The big finale was Kermit The Frog (yes you read that right) doing a rather good duet with Jim James (My Morning Jacket).
